Description
The abandoned Cedar Hill Station sits along a forgotten stretch of Route 66 between Tucumcari and San Jon, New Mexico. The Cedar Hill Station was opened sometime in the 1950's and has sat unnoccupied since 1980 when the section of Route 66 that ran in front was bypassed by the interstate. Besides a gas station there was also 3 tourist rooms and a corral behind the building. The roofing shingles of the gas station are made from flattened tin oil cans. Prior to closing it had been run by Charlie and Lillian Murray since the 1950's. The roof of the front porch has been partially collapsed since at least the early 90's.
